In my English class I chose to read Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and I greatly enjoyed the book. Reading a classic was very interesting and I can see why the book is a classic because the story is so captivating. The monster's seclusion based on his appearance has great resonance with young adults today and I would encourage others to read it.
I'm currently still reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and it's amazing. I love the different plot from other books that I have read and I love that it;s just about werewolves and not vampires. I would encourage it to anyone looking for a unique book to read.
This week I read The Queen of Spades for my English class and I greatly enjoyed it. It was an interesting story with an insight on life in nineteenth century Russia. This work is considered a classic piece of Russian literature and I am glad I read it.
This week I had to read two short stories about King Arthur and Lancelot. I really liked the story line of them both. I enjoyed reading about how chivalrous men were and how adventurous everyone was.
For this week I have been looking at books to read and I researched the Hunger Games. The story seems interesting and the trilogy would give me a lot of reading material for a while. I think I may hold out on reading them until I have more time to invest.
This week I just started reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult for an SSR project in English. I've heard a lot of good things about not only this book by also Picoult. I've always been dying to read one of her books so I was excited to get one that has had such great reviews.
This week I am continuing to read Shiver by Maggie Steifvater. I wasn't able to finish it because of my SSR project but I decided to do Shiver for my project. I liked Nineteen Minutes but it was so long that I didn't think that I would finish it by June 3rd since I never have time to ready anymore. :/
I finished reading The Everafter by Amy Huntley and I greatly enjoyed it. I really liked the twist at the end of how Madison and Gabe died especially since it was so tragic. I liked Huntley's book and would recommend it to others. It was nice to read a book for pleasure instead of for an assigment!
This week I am still reading Shiver because it takes me forever to finish a book lately and I'm trying to stretch it out so I can write a really good review for my SSR project. It's getting a bit more suspenseful and I feel a big turn coming up.
I read Side Effects by Amy Goldman Koss and I thought it was a good book. I liked reading about a teenager, escpecially since she was graduating too! I enjoyed Koss's writing style, her approach on teenagers thoughts was dead on. I disliked the ending becuase it was just a short paragraph and left me wanting more and I expected more since the rest of the story was so indepth.
I have 2 new books for my summer reading list. Shiver sounds very suspenseful and I am intrigued by NoraAnn's comment about Side Effects giving a "dead on" depiction of teenagers thoughts.
I'm still reading theories of relativity and so far i'm shocked at how powerful of a book it is so far. It makes me laugh and feel sad often at times, and it makes life seem very shallow.
